Department Profile

The Department of Biotechnology was established in 2014 with the introduction of the B.Tech. in Biotechnology programme. The Department expanded its academic and research portfolio with the commencement of the Ph.D. programme in 2016. Recognizing the rapid advancement of technology and the growing need for interdisciplinary, innovation-driven education, the Department introduced a B.Tech. programme in Biosciences and Bioengineering in 2025. The programme is designed to address the evolving demands of science, technology, industry, and society through an integrated approach to biosciences, engineering, and emerging technologies. The Department also offers a Minor Degree in Biotechnology to students from other disciplines, enabling them to gain interdisciplinary knowledge and skills in biotechnology and its applications. Committed to excellence in education, research, and innovation, the Department strives to provide high-quality academic training that prepares students for diverse career opportunities in industry, higher education, research, and entrepreneurship
