Innovation Club

About the Club

Innovation club at National Institute of Technology was established on 21st November 2014 and it was officially inaugurated by the Honourable President of India Shri Pranab Mukharjee at NIT Yupia, Arunachal Pradesh during first convocation of the institute. The prime purpose for creating this innovation club is:

  • To have a club/section for the development and creation of products and innovations which may be useful and work efficiently.
  • To inculcate in the students mind, a nature of inventors.
  • To encourage the students to target National and International Competitions and win such events.
  • To have seminars of idea shared frequently without disturbing the institute infrastructure and curricular activities.
  • To develop solutions for industrial problems so that the Institute Industry interaction strengthens which would create more Placement Opportunities.

This club has initiated an innovation practices among the students right from its inception, one innovative exhibition was conducted, where number of innovative ideas were shared, like homemade herbal grinding machine, low cost local brick manufacturer machine etc. Under the motivation of the club, students has made some innovative gadgets out of junk which was also placed for exhibition such as Laptop cooler, Luxurious chair etc

Automatic Railway Crack Detector

Description: Transport is a key necessity for specialization that allows production and consumption of products to occur at different locations.

The Indian Railway is the fourth largest network in the world carrying 18 million people to their destinations each day. More than 16,000 trains run on Railway tracks each day. But sadly every year many Train accidents happened in India.

Therefore, to avoid accidents in Indian Railway, the students of National Institute of Technology Arunachal Pradesh are in a process of designed a robot for detection of cracks developed in railway line due to aging or other regions, based on Robotics, Satellite and Mobile Communication Technique.

Function: This project will be designed with the aim to detect any defect (breaks/cracks) in Railway line and avoid the accidents.

The Project claims to produce a prototype global positioning system (GPS), global system for mobile communication (GSM) and Interfacing with different sensors for Railway safety. This system uses two sensors namely ultrasonic sensor and IR Sensor. The IR Sensor is used to detect the cracks or breaks in Railway line and ultrasonic sensor to measure the depth of available break as well as find the obstacle on the track by producing acoustic waves

Dr. Rajen Pudur, Dean(Exam & Acad)

Dr. Rajen Pudur, B.E from North Gujarat University with distinction, M.Tech. in Power system from NERIST with first class distinction and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from NERIST. He served in NERIST as a Lecturer for four years. He has served Arunachal Police Housing (a construction agency, Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh) for five years as an Electrical Engineer undertaking lots of field work in electrical section including HT, LT, transformer, DG set, installation, domestic wiring, lighting arresters etc. His areas of interest are Power Systems, Renewable Energy, Distributed Generation, and power quality. Dr. Pudur published many papers in few referred national and international journals and is also a member of IEEE. Presently, he is working as an Assistant Professor and Head of Department in Electrical Department.

Alak Majumder, Assistant Professor (ECE)

ALAK MAJUMDER received B.E in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering from Tripura Institute of Technology, Agartala in 2011 and M-Tech in Microelectronics & VLSI Design from National Institute of Technology, Agartala, India in 2013. After completion of M-Tech he joined The ICFAI University, Tripura as Assistant Professor in the department of ECE. Since September’2013 he is working as an Assistant Professor in the department of ECE at National institute of Technology, Arunachal Pradesh, India. He has worked in the field of Microstrip Patch Antenna and Metamaterials. His current research interests include Analog and Digital VLSI and Network-on-Chip.

Manash Pratim Dutta, Assistant Professor, CSE

Manash Pratim Dutta received his M. Tech degree in Information Technology from Sikkim Manipal University, Sikkim, India in 2012. He obtained B. E. in Computer Science & Engineering from Jorhat Engineering College, Jorhat, Assam in 2005. Currently, he is working as Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering in National Institute of Technology, Arunachal Pradesh. Prior to this, he worked as Assistant Professor in Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology, Sikkim. Earlier, he worked as Lecturer in Dibrugarh University, Dibrugarh, Assam followed by as Software Developer in ABB Global Industries & Software Ltd, Bangalore, Karnataka. His research activities are mainly focused on cryptography and information security.

Dr. Dipak Sen, Assistant Professor, ME

Dr. Dipak Sen received M.Tech. from NIT Silchar in the year 2007 and Ph.D from National Institute of Technology, Agartala, India in 2014. He has published several research papers in various international journal and international and national conferences. He is the author of two books. He served BTLIT Bangalore for 2 (Two) years as a Lecturer, and in NIT Agartala he worked as Assistant Professor for 4 (Four) and half years. His main field of interests are experimental fluid mechanics and heat transfer, flow visualization, natural and forced convection. Presently he is working in Mechanical Engineering NIT, Arunachal Pradesh, as an Assistant Professor.
